Recording King may be the Best Cheap Guitar EVER
From your recording, the guitar sounds very shallow and boxy.
use a pick
I do use a pick. Just not while playing slide most of the time
Dang dude I was considering the blackguard but now, hmmmm. Thank you for keeping this a clean demo. So many folks jamming space music with backing tracks and we never hear the bare naked elements and their natural nuances. Love your axe.
Thank you so much...
Not bad at all!But I prefer my gretsch jim dandy!
As bad as it was for my health... I kinda miss walkin into a cig smoke filled bar with my grandpa and hearing this
It sounds good . They always sound good when tuned down to d c g e what ever.
Sounds great
great playing. I love my speed demon too.
Why the generic computer music on a guitar channel? Ugh...
We don’t need to see and hear you play. Talk about the guitar.
Thank you!
Just picked up a Princeton Reissue and I find the little Jensen C10R way too bright and spikey, I’m used to a Hot Rod Deluxe which has a nice big bottom, I realize that there is a huge difference between a 12 » and a10 » 40 watts to 12 watts but I am in search of something warmer, any suggestions
If your staying with the 10” the Jupiter is it and affordable. I ended up putting a Celestion Gold 12 and its brilliant, but expensive
Hey JT, You've definitely convinced me to follow the Henretta brand closely. I've just ordered the Red Brick, but others will gradually follow, including this Fuzz and the Pinkman (dirty boost). The two chains together must be heavy 😈 Greetings from France.
I’m glad you dig it. It’s a cool little company simple circuits.
Sounds like lollar j street and royal T 😮
They are really solid pickups. For not much money. I night these when he was just non Facebook. I think there is a store now.
Hi, thanks for the excellent demonstration. When the MiSi couple introduced their Motif pickup, they said it is free from the quack peculiar to piezo pickups. But I was wondering how this could be if this Motif pickup is still made of ceramic capacitors, which create voltage as a result of exactly the same phenomena - piezo effect. Now your short demonstration was very helpful. The external microphone still sounds better IMHO. The Motif pickup is not bad, but it still is a PIEZO pickup, nothing more. And this is clearly evident in the quality of the sound. They should have included a MEMS microphone together with the Motif pickup, as is done in their Acoustic Trio AIR. The sound could then be balanced for a more natural result. Therefore, I would still choose Acoustic Trio AIR instead. Thank you. Excellent job.
Wow! You know your stuff. Thanks for the compliment. I believe you are right the mic will help a ton. Solo acoustic it’s the way to go. In a band situation and the amount of noise the mic would be difficult to squash feedback. I really dig it. I may try the trio on my other acoustic
The projection is insane!,at least through the mic it is
For sure. It’s crazy that this little guitar does this. I’m even tuned down to Open D.
Great video - subscribed
JT nice playing. Why does the title say no batteries?
There is no batteries required. The unit comes with a plug that goes from the outlet to the end pin jack. It charges the capacitor for 6 hrs.
Great playing!
You can really hear that dog barking 😂
Great video, I gave you a Sub. 😉
What strings are you using 10s or 9.5
D’addario 11-52 Played in open D tuning so they feel like 10s
-the slide sounds amaaazzzing on that guitar !!!!
I've got two little Recording Kings and I love em both. They play and sound great. Bought both as beaters and fell in love.
☑️👍 nice chimey small body shaded guitar solid sitka &hog w/pup _what is not to like at this low bidget price ⁉️🙃 ☻️🌙
i really like your playing !
GFS pickups yada yada yada WHAT GFS PICKUPS? geez! If you can't tell the difference between the sound of GFS pickups and Duncan Antiquities then you are either #1) using a digital amp/preamp/interface OR #2) you cannot play with enough skill to bring out the true character of the pickups you are using, OR #3) you don't know how to adjust a HB pickup properly, #4) your amp is incapabile of a true pickups tone, #4) ALL of the above! I own lots of GFS pickups and Antiquities as well many other Duncans, and Dimarzios! Some GFS are on par at best with some Duncans and Dimarzios but there isn't one GFS pickup that is on par with Dunacns Antiquity pafs when in a decent guitar and in the hands of a skilled guitar player!
tiger woods could beat me with one cheap club. it’s the Indian not the arrow… these are what you make them
How low is the action? Is it low enough for small handed girls? Thought about one for my daughter. Sounds good, by the way.
Thanks. Action is super great. Get a proper setup if you get one. It’s perfect for smaller hands
Hello JT, are you still happy with the Guitarfetish Humbuckers ahter 3 years , or have you found something you like better? I am Trying to make up my mind on which HB's to go with. I have also looked at the Planet Tone and the Tone Riders. Let me know what you think.
Russell thanks for checking in. I kept that guitar for a little over a year and was totally thrilled with the pickups. I ended up giving the gutiar to a musician who needed a guitar. Pickups are so personal. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I have a set up tone specific pafs in that are crazy expensive but worth every dime. They came with the guitar. A iosh wllliams mockingbird. As a guitar player we’re always searching. Maybe I just got a great set but for the money it’s worth a try.
I just went back and Listened to your GF Pickups and I must admit, They really do sound great. Thanks again
Cómo la puedo comprar
I have that exact guitar and I love it!
Got mine in April, loved everything except the gold top looked too copper in color. So I'm in the process of stripping it and repainting it gold with the spray from stew Mac. Also bought some kluson tuners for it.
I want to second this opinion on how good this guitar is. I have the Single O series 9 plus. This has the solid sitka top and laminated mahogany back and sides. I think the one in this video has the black finish on the back and side and what they describe as 'white wood'. Either way, these guitars sound like vintage old time instruments, they are loud and responsive and good for slide too.
Looks stunning. Guitar looks good too.
Thanks so much for posting this. I'm just like you, I've always wanted a Gold Top with P90s so yesterday I ordered one of these from Thomann. I've been playing since the 70s and have never owned a Les Paul. Back in the day I made my living playing guitar in a country band so a Telecaster was the thing to have, but towards the end I did change to a Strat when I got offered way more than I paid for my Tele when I bought it in 1976. These days music is just for fun so I could never justify the cost of a Gibson, even if I had that much money to spare. I love your playing, those open chords sound stunning!!!!!!!!
Man if the quality is still there. It’s a great instrument. Mine was not heavy. Good luck and enjoy. Thank you for the kind words
I've been trying out a Jupiter 12LA in a Magic Vibro Prince (Handwired Princeton Clone) OMG totally agree, endless headroom. Probably the cleanest, most musical, high fidelity sounding amp speaker I've ever experienced. Crystal clear highs and tight lows at any volume. Maybe not be for everyone.
Great guitar no matter what it costs
If you want the best sounding and playing parlor guitar for cheap, I highly recommend the Kala solid cedar top Kala. It has a solid cedar top, laminated mahogany back and sides, ebony fretboard and bridge, slotted headstock, and 12 fret short scale. It competes directly with my Martin 0-18 and is only $349. I am still impressed with the build and tone of this unsung hero, I have a Recording King RPH-05, Gibson J-45 50's original, Martin HD-28, Martin 000-15M, and the Kala Is my everyday songwriter, crazy what you can get for that little of $$. I also bought a Recording King series 11 single 0 and returned it, Recording Kings are great guitars, but that Kala is something special and super versatile, play one if you get a chance.
Thanks for the comment. I will have to play a kala one day. You never know with guitars. I’ve played some pretty high end Martins that I didn’t like and a few Gibsons. A connection with a gutiar can be very personal. I love checking out new brands to me. Thanks
The exact pickups I decided I'll put in the Firefly FF338 I just ordered! Thanks for the review!
I can never see the point in wearing a cap backwards!
Are the inlays just painted on, like on the RPS-7?
They are inlaid at least on the one I have.
Let’s try to get some closer video of you next time. 🤦🏼♂️
Thanks man I will work on it.
Awesome, friend! Nice enthusiastic review 🙂 haha I love it!
Great video! Great playing. Sound. More playing not much talking
Hey man thanks for the demo on this guitar i just bought a 1960s old kraftsman version of this guitar. I have read that that was the name that the spegiel catalog sold these kay guitars. Trust me its Kay thru an thru. I have a question though do you use a wound 3rd string set on yours? Again thanks for the great demo.... subscribing now Billie
choosing my first guitar and im down between this one and a epiphone starling at my local shop. so glad i came across your video! what a beautiful guitar
These are fantastic guitars. Good luck in your guitar journey
I got one last week and love it's unique sound/tone. It sounds like the best electric guitar. Just puts a smile on my face when I play it ☺️
You can’t beat it for the money. Enjoy
That's all the materse, enjoy it !
Did you replace the pots with full size Alpha’s, or dime sized again? If dime sized, mind me asking where you found them? I just replaced my PU’s in my FF338 with GF Hot Nashvilles, but I messed up my neck tone pot and have to re-do it all again lol.
I used CTS full-sized pots. Not an easy task for those of us not skilled, but I got it done and prayed like crazy. it worked great. Good luck to you
